Military authorit les have asked me whether there

is any objection to officer belonging to the Intelligence Bureau proceeding to Hankow Tuesday next by civil air line

with the object of ascertaining military situation.

Accredited Military Attaché is at Nanking and therefore

out of touch.

Reason for question is (corrupt group)

that Japanese suspicion may be aroused by visit (corrupt

group) to headquarters of Chinese Government.

I have

stated that I see no object..on bat would inform you in

case Foreign Office are opposed to such visit.
